An immense work of archaeological scholarship produced after Payne's death in 1936 and edited under the leadership of T J Dunbadin, author of the preface, who ultimately wrote Perachora 2, published in 1962. A typed sheet laid in states 'With the compliments of T J Dunbadin. Payne, 1902-1936, was a distinguished archaeologist and Director of the British School of Archaeology in Athens from 1929 to his death. Seven reprints of monogrpahs by him in wraps, several signed or inscribed. are laid in. With colour frontis and one coloured plate, 140 plates at rear and many plates and drawings in the text. Bound in tan buckram with gilt titling on spine, blue jacket. Lightest of wear to book, jacket worn with some tears and minor losses.
