The Fitzpatrick Edition bound in original blue cloth with gilt titles on spine, armorial vignette on front boards. Sir Arthur Doughty was the legislative librarian of Quebec and the Dominion Archivist and keeper of the public records. A magisterial work, still a standard. Front and bottom edges uncut. All illustrations and large foldout coloured map present in volume 1. Portrait plate of Montcalm and guard heavily foxed, six inch tear on map extending out from gutter, hinges cracked but holding, several marks on boards. Volume 2 has all illustrations and large folding map with cutout addition. Sporadic foxing to the plates, three inch tear on map starting at gutter, hinges cracked. Volume 3 has all illustrations present, occasional light foxing, many pages unopened, overall light wear. Volume 4 lightly worn, most pages unopened.. Volume 5 in similar condition to volume 4.Volume 6 most pages unopened, hinges cracked. Overall an attractive set of an important Canadian historical work. A heavy set, special shipping considerations may apply.
