Published in Edinburgh by Cadell and in London by Houston. Listed as Volume 8 of the Waverley Novels on the engraved title page, volume 11 on the spine. Illustrated with four guarded steel engravings of architectural and scenic views including a portrait of Queen Elizabeth I. . Also illustrated with 73 vignette wood engravings. Almost all engravings of both types are credited to both the artist and the engraver. Handsomely bound by Dawson Brothers of Montreal in green gilt-ruled calf, six spine compartments, 4 with leaf motifs, two with brown leather spine labels; marbled endpapers, inner dentelles, ribbon bookmark, AEG. Spine a little faded, some scuffing on the spine, some mild sunning to top half of front board. A very handsome and appealing book, beautifully printed and bound and in very nice condition.
