The preferred edition limited to 1000 sets of which this is #378 and signed by the publishers on the limitarion page of Auld Light Idylls. Bound in quarter blue coloth, grey boards with gilt titles on front board and spine a Kirriemuir medallion in gilt on the rear boards. Slipcases are present for eight of the ten volumes, each holding two volumes and lacking the one for Peter and Wendy and The Little White Bird. Slipcased volumes include Auld Light Idylls, Better Dead, My Lady Nicotine, The Little Minister, Tommy and Grizel, Sentimental Tommy, A Window in Thrums/Margaret Ogilvy and When a Man's Single. Books are in Near Fine to Fine condition with tanning to the endpapers in all volumes. The slipcases are somewhat worn with some splitting to the edges and faded titles on the spines. A heavy set, special shipping consideration will apply for overseas orders.

Bound in blue calf with gilt ruling on covers, raised bands on spine with morocco spine labels and elaborately decorated compartments. Marbled endpaper and edges. Heraldic bookplate of Edward Wood affixed to front pastedowns. Front board of Volume 2 and rear board of Volume 3 very nicely replaced by Meadland Bindery of Brentwood Bay, British Columbia in matching blue calf with gilt ruling. Varying degrees of wear to other boards, the most acute on the front cover of Volume 3, which has suffered extensive damage, without however affecting its essential integrity. Lesser damage to the rear board of Volume 2 and minor wear to the other boards. Foxing to title pages and preliminaries. In all cases the volumes are tight and solid and the calf remains smooth and glossy. A handsomely bound set of the most desired edition of Goldsmith’s works.
